On December 25, 2025, the Amur Region launched permanent traffic through the renovated infrastructure of the Kani-Kurgan International Automobile Checkpoint (IACC). The transport and logistics company Eurasia Logistics participated in the industry event.
The modernization of the checkpoint, which is part of the border infrastructure complex in the Far East, is intended to increase throughput on the Russian-Chinese route. Following the upgrade, the facility will be able to handle up to 850 vehicles per day; and approximately 5,500 people. For these purposes, 16 full-size traffic lanes, expandable to 24, are provided. The introduction of modern equipment and digital services in customs and border services has reduced border crossing times. According to carriers, with proper preliminary information, the inspection of freight vehicles can take no more than 10 minutes.
According to Ilya Zarubin, Development Director at Eurasia Logistics, the test mode during the previous stages allowed for a maximum of 190 vehicles per day. The launch of the upgraded facilities creates conditions for increased freight traffic and optimized electronic queuing. "Full operation of the checkpoint will increase freight traffic and resolve the electronic queuing issue, something logistics companies have long awaited," commented Ilya Zarubin. The launch of the upgraded Kani-Kurgan checkpoint, as part of the development of border infrastructure in the Far East, aligns with the country's strategic focus on areas shaping the future of the industry and the national economy as a whole.
